This idea came about rather organically. Took some rose cut diamonds out of a piece of antique jewelry and found that they were not round. Said to the customer "our plan is not going to work. Setting rose cuts that are not round is going to send me to the dark side". She replied, "a moon! Make a moon necklace! Go to the dark side of the moon!" As simple as it is, that is how this design came about. It is a hand fabricated sterling sphere with craters and blobs. The finished form looks like so many different things! Put a black patina on the silver and off we go. Alien probe droid? Unexploded ordnance?
